Ooh, you know I’ve never checked out Honey Birdette, @NickiPower. I had always presumed it was mostly just lingerie.
@EggplantEmoji Bless him for his advance thinking!
@mak_trouble891 I agree. It actually seems like a really cool idea and great for tying in a lot of the different senses that turn women on – the mind does amazing things! 😉
@Kit Oh no, walk to where the register is and then face the front of the store. You’ll be surprised! There’s all sorts of goodies hidden from view.
@NickiPower Well there you go!
There used to be a really pretty female-targeted sex shop down the road from me. Shame it closed really :'( It was the whole empowered toys and not a hint of dark alleys!
Thought of this thread when I saw this article
Awesome article @Kit! I did notice Shailene Woodley talking about it the other day, love these strong women making the normal normal!
I love visiting sex shops. I think I was dragged into one before I was 18, but in the last few years, it’s become even just a fun store to look around in, and the staff at many of the stores locally are actually really nice, and make me super comfortable. I used to think only creepy single old dudes went into them, so I’m so glad I got to get over THAT stereotype! 🙂
That’s really great @sc170. I think have to agree, most of my experiences have been positive, thus changing my view of the creepy old stereotype which is awesome 🙂
I have never been to one. To tell the truth, the first time i heard about dildos was when I was 23.
That’s ok too @v4wanndii, everyone has a different introduction and experience with sex, sex shops and sexual paraphernalia. I didn’t start watching porn till I was in my 20’s and a lot of this was because of circumstance/my relationships at the time and the people I associated with. Also ones upbringing and parents can also influence our introduction to sex.
I do think though think that visiting a sex shop can be a really enlightening experience, there is so much out there.
@v4wanndii what @mak_trouble891 says is exactly true, everyone is completely different and has a different experience. I was “older” for my first time in one, I guess I always assumed they were “dodgy” :smiley:
I’ve definitely been into some that I found slightly terrifying lolol, like intimidatingly large dildos (some would say impossibly large) and a little glory hole room and everything. I think that one falls more onto the dodgy side. But then I’ve been to some lovely ones too :3
Hi all, I’m yet to go into one but I’m quite interested to have a look. I’m a little nervous though. I always thought these stores were for couples but looks like even singles can have some fun. Out of curiosity what toys are available for guys?
@Awesone489 the toys available will depend upon the store you chose to visit. If you’re a little nervous, you can always do some online recon (or simply shop online if that feels less nerve-wracking 😉 ).
Thanks @MsBlueStreak. I’ll take a look at the online stores.
I was 15, and went in for a laugh with my best mate. I chickened out and went outside, only to run almost head on into a friend’s dad! It was SO AWKWARD.
