There’s no standard cost for treating STIs. The cost varies depending on the type of treatment and the length of the treatment process.

In the real world, cost is always an issue and that’s understandable. Most treatments will cost something, but make sure you ask your Doctor or local pharmacy about cost options. The cost of antibiotics for treating an STI like chlamydia (the most common STI in young people) generally ranges from $10-$20. If you have a healthcare card you will only pay the dispensing fee, which is about $6.

Talk to your Doctor or give the pharmacy a call and they can give you advice about costs.

Are there other options?

There might be a youth health clinic or other service available where you can get the treatment for free. Contact Nurse Nettie if you want to find another service near you.
