What is STI testing? STI testing is the process of running medical tests to check for any sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It is quick, easy, and confidential. Most STI tests only require a blood test and either a self-collected swab or a urine sample. Why is STI testing important? […]
It’s Valentine’s Day National Condom Day! It’s no coincidence that Valentine’s Day and National Condom Day fall on the same day… but in terms of which one we’re celebrating, well, that’s a no brainer. Here at Play Safe, we’ll take any excuse to celebrate condoms, but today, on National Condom […]

I mean obviously we do, but do girls think about sex as much as boys do?
I had this conversation with a male identifying friend recently and he was convinced that girls just don’t think about sex that much. Which I said was ridiculous and that I think about sex a lot. So much. Then he said I don’t count because I’m queer?????
Uh, firstly, rude? Love that hyper-sexualisation culture associated with the LGBTQIA+ community, lmao.
Secondly, assuming heterosexual women don’t think about sex often is just wrong? I blame society. It’s such a social construct really, it positions women as a sexual object rather than a sexual being. Women like sex too!!
What do you think? Do girls think about sex as much as boys do? Less? More?
Ahhh @tea I find this so frustrating also!
This ‘boys think about sex more than girls’ is a narrative that is fed to us our entire lives, to the point where we start to internalise and believe it. Quite frankly, I just think it’s untrue. Sexuality is individual and therefore varies wildly from person to person- gender and sex aside- we really cannot predict it.
I also think about sex a lot, and am queer… but I have non-queer friends who are just as sex-obsessed- so no correlation there.
Bottom line- suggesting that men on the whole think about sex more than women, seems to me just another way of removing sexual agency from women and as you said, positions women as sexual objects rather than individuals personally engaged with sex.
Sex can be as large or small a part of our lives as we want it to be- irrespective of sex and/or gender.
@tea @earthmama it is so strange that people still think like that. I identify as female and straight and I spend a of a lot of time thinking about sex – and talking to my friends about it! Gender and sexual orientation don’t come into it.
The way I see it? It’s natural to think and talk about the things you enjoy in life. And sex is one of those things!
@tea short answer yes, lmao. That was kinda rude of your friend to say that. I’ve had conversations with male acquaintances where they’ve been shocked that I’ve referenced something sexual, or made a sexual joke. It actually made me a bit uncomfortable at the time because it’s like…you’ve JUST done the same thing, what’s wrong with me doing it?
I think everyone’s different, but I definitely think women think about sex as much (maybe in some instances, more) than men.
Agree with all that’s been said! It is so lovely to hear the narrative around female sexuality beginning to change <3
I wonder if there are certain elements of sex that people think about more. Do you all fantasise about events that lead to sex? The sex itself? What happens after? Sex with someone you’ve actually slept with? Sex with someone you’ve never met? Solo sex?! @tea @ekoorb9 @aunt_flo
Such good points @ekoorb9 @aunt_flo @earthmama !! Yeah Sex is totally individual for sure, and everyone’s definition of what sex ‘is’ can totally vary too!
I guess it also comes down to not equating sex with pleasure, and of course, there’s no way women could possibly have sex PURELY for pleasure!!!!! Smh.
Personally, I think about the pleasure aspect of sex in any sense of the word @earthmama ! I guess that would be my definition of sex though, feeling pleasure in a sexual context.
Agreed @tea. But also the closeness and the opportunity for deviance that is not allowed in waking hours 😉
@earthmama HAHA good point!!! 😉
Yes females do think about sex. Some do even more than males.
I think girls think about sex more often than men. Judging by the number of girls who prefer to work in such a service sector as this https://escortglasgow.info/
Constantly. Especially these hot things … God, how lustful they are! I had the opportunity to spend time with one and them. It was awesome!
