Nervous about buying condoms?
The first thing is – you’re not alone. Most people are a little nervous about buying condoms, especially if you haven’t bought them before. You look around the store hoping there are no other customers around. And then there’s the cashier (if there even is one these days with all the self-service checkouts). Will they be judgemental?
Remember that people purchase condoms every day. And that cashier sells them every day. People have sex every day. There’s really nothing to worry about.
What sort of condom should I use?
Condoms come in loads of different sizes, brands, textures, colours and flavours, some are lubricated or non-lubricated, some latex or non-latex. Seriously, the options are endless which means there’s always one to suit.
Get hold of a mixed box, try a few out and see what works the best for you. Not a bad reason to have a load more sex, right?
Where can I buy condoms?
You can buy condoms from your local supermarket, chemists or pharmacies, convenience stores, petrol stations. They’re also available for free at Youth Health Centres, Sexual Health Clinics and some GPs. But if you’d prefer something more discrete or are looking for a bigger range, be sure to look online and get them delivered.
Want FREE condoms?
If you’re under 30, you can even get condoms for free through Family Planning NSW’s Freedom Condom project. It’s a new service that makes it easy for young people to get free condoms across the state. Simply head to a clinic or service that displays the Freedom Condom posters and ask for your own Freedom Condom card.
