Okay I’m totally geeking out.
I’ve just been looking at Pornhub’s 2019 Year in Review and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen one of their reviews. And ohhhhh boy.
I love the subject of sex, I love infographics, I love thinking about and understanding human behaviour.
This ticks all the boxes.
Here it is, if you’d like to geek out with me.
It starts off with all the insights about the website traffic of the year, which is absolutely astonishing. It’s such a popular website. I pay for my porn, so I do wonder how much of the content on pornhub is pirated.
If you keep scrolling through the review it just explodes with all the good stuff. Demographics on searches, location, time, what devices people use, how traffic changed during holidays or sports games, even how Eurovision impacted traffic (which if you’re wondering: ‘traffic dropped across all of Europe including a -12% drop in Sweden and -10% in Portugal’). Even movies, TV and celebrities impact traffic. Searches for Kim K went up 2186% on her birthday.
There’s honestly so much information there and all of it is interesting to me that I don’t even know what stands out because it ALL does. Is anyone totally fascinated by this stuff or is it just me?! If you’ve looked at it, what stands out to you?
I love seeing what every one else is into! It’s interesting that the top two categories are quite opposite of each other, with ammeter being more realistic and then alien porn which I’m assuming in more fantasy.
However, I’ve never actually seen alien porn… is where people dress up as aliens? haha
This is fascinating!! There is something so bizarre how something is seen as private individually, but somehow on mass it becomes data and therefore publicly available. It’s like when sexual behaviour is on a grand scale it is suddenly anonymous and then we can talk about it??
