Is it normal to bleed or have light spotting after sex?
Hi @mak_trouble891, this is a good question. The answer depends on the type of sex your having. If it’s the first time for vaginal sex then it may happen (in some cultures this is expected- however it doesn’t always happen). If it’s anal sex bleeding may occur because the skin lining of the anus is delicate and full of blood vessels. Sometimes with vigorous vaginal sex or anal sex, slight bleeding can occur. This may be related to trauma to the skin. Is it normal to bleed after sex? Generally not. Bleeding after sex every time may also be a sign of an infection. For women it may be a sign of abnormal cells in the cervix (tested by a pap smear) or a gynaecological problem. For this reason its important to get any vaginal or anal bleeding checked by a doctor.
