So, it has come to my attention (thanks to a friend who has a YouTube channel) that Google recently made a moderation decision to classify all content related to the LGBTI+ community as 18+ – even if the contribution was posted by a minor.

Apparently in the land of Google, only people who are over 18 are LGBTI and curious.

If this makes your pants as cranky as mine… there’s a Change.org petition you can sign to hopefully get this reversed here:

What?! Why should content related to the LGBTI community be considered 18+, I understand if it was like a totally pornographic sex scene but like come on… Grrrr!!!

Nope @mak_trouble891 the rating now applies to all content, even if the creator is a minor (which I’m pretty sure creates some grey area about checking your content even uploaded okay).

N.B. I haven’t checked whether this applies to all sex-ed content (I’m just a little cranky that it even applies to LGBTI content, which is a group who need to self-educate given the hetero-normative nature of any in school sex-ed classes)

OMG! well I’m cranky with you @MsBlueStreak – talk about the current divide even bigger when it should even be there in the first place

There is also a new movie coming out that they are fighting to have the ratings changed because the lead character is LGBTI and the movie is about their journey. What a joke that there has to be such stupid restrictions on diversity.

@MsBlueStreak also in the PDHPE curriculum the sex ed content is a grey area and does allow for discussion, most teachers shy away from talking about it for fear of backlash. Even though it’s as simple as saving “the person with the penis, or the person with the vulva” and give higher emphasis on safe sex (protecting against STI’s) not just for contraceptive measures.

    I’ve signed the petition 🙂

That reminds me of the movie Blue Valentine @Curiosity, which got an R rating because there was female oral sex and that was considered raunchier than blowjobs 😐

This seems to happen so much with movies, remember the horror when Black Swan came out just because it had some female oral sex scene. That same week I read that 5 other movies premiered with sex scenes but they were all your bog standard woman submits to man so nobody batted an eyelid.

Also as someone who just flew 24hrs in a plane, WHY MUST ALL MOVIES HAVE SEX SCENES.

@CloakOfAsh I think you were watching the wrong movies.

@CloakOfAsh You don’t realise how many movies there are with sex scenes until you are on the aisle seat of a plane. And everyone can see what you’re watching! :joy:
