Ive had an anal swab which showed a positive result for chlamidia but I haven’t had anal sex, protected or otherwise. How can this be?
Hi Andesch! This is a really good question. Sometimes the anus can become infected with Chlamydia through fingering or rubbing around the bum or dipping inside. Chlamydia is not always passed on by penetration or anal sex alone.
If your still unsure about the risk of transmission it’s ok to ask your doctor to confirm the test.
Chlamydia is curable. Just remember to finish your antibiotics & have no sex for 1 week. The doctor might also ask you to come back for another test to make sure its healed completely.
Chlamydia doesnt always show symptoms so its important to let partners know so they can get treated to. There are ways to do this anonymously if it’s hard to talk. If you need any help with that let me know.
