Absolutely @Awesone489. I think the average penis size in Australia is around 5 inches. Bodies come in such different shapes and sizes, which is rarely reflected in porn. If it is, it tends to fall under some sort of fetish porn which is sad.
They don’t show lube issues!!
You’re right @NickiPower, its pretty much stick it in and off they go 😉
For many hours lol 😉 @Awesone489
Oh and ‘boob jobs’ – can we put that to rest too?
Agree with you there @Kit i’m sure this was something started by the porn industry rather than reality .
And they are always ready to go for it without any foreplay, the guy always has an instant erection.
What about all that dirty talk as well and terms they use.
@Awesone489 I know right? But I guess the reality is off camera where they obviously use all the tools to get ready, it’s just people don’t realise it.
So true @Awesone489. I think porn’s lack of foreplay is the biggest disservice in terms of info about sex. It’s half the fun! 😉
Dirty talk can be a fine line sometimes. It can appeal to different people in different ways, or go outrageously wrong!
I agree @Kit dirty talk is a fine line. Sometimes it can come across as vulgar.
Female ejaculation seems to be another issue that is not depecited accurately. From my readings on the topic it would appear that in porn it could actually be pee.
Just to offer a slightly different perspective – is it a problem that porn is unrealistic? Harry Potter is unrealistic and that’s part of the entertainment. A better example might be the Olympics – where it’s real but not realistic for the everyday person.
Does porn only become a problem when people think it’s the normal way to have sex?
I think the biggest issue with it @walk_on_walls is kids are using it as their sex ed, and its so easy to get a hold of when you’re at a really impressionable age. I remember watching some super questionable stuff when I was a kid with unrestricted internet access in my bedroom and I think it has certainly impacted my view of sex/whats healthy etc. I think if there’s a really rock solid base of sex ed from day one its definitely less of an issue, but I don’t know that we’re necessarily there yet.
I guess the other issue I have (to compare it to Harry Potter) is if you believe in magic and broomsticks, it isn’t really going to impact your interactions with others, whereas (for example) watching a bunch of violent porn where women are used as pleasure vehicles and not human beings with individual turn ons etc as a kid and growing up to believe that’s how sex is becomes pretty problematic in the real world.
Exactly @kindofsquishy the stuff that is available on the internet is not only unrealistic but can be quite disturbing for a young person who has not experienced sex and/or has limited sex knowledge. Unfortunately it creates a distorted expectation of what sex is like and meant to be like, with many young people trying the things they see in porn and hurting themselves or their partner.
Thanks for your thoughts! @kindofsquishy @mak_trouble891
Sounds like underage access and lack of healthy sex education are issues here too.
@walk_on_walls I think porn could be educational or inspirational. Some couple likes to watch it together while they have sex. You might pick up a new move – although those moves tend to what’s convenient for the camera rather than for pleasure. But if that’s your ONLY source of education or inspiration, you are likely to end up with a pretty unrealistic expectation of what sex is. It all comes to down to communication. Asking your partner if they want to try something, or if they’re enjoying it rather than expecting they will.
So apparently one of the biggest suppliers of the Porn has decided to help out those who only have porn for sex-ed, by also providing Pornhub Sexual Health Center.
Go PornHub!!
