I’ve had the Implanon for about 4 years now and the only side effects I’ve had are very irregular periods and a bit of spotting here and there. Super light periods though which is a good thing. For me, it’s been ideal. Despite being pretty good at ‘Adulting’ elsewhere in life, I could never remember to take my pill every day! Everybody reacts differently though and I know some of my friends hated the irregular periods it gave them.
I’m on my 3rd implanon and love it. Whenever I take it out between getting the new one, my period returns pretty quickly. Whilst I have implanon, I don’t get my period at all which is awesome.
It seems that everyone reacts differently though as I have had friends with mixed reactions… some had bad bruising and others found their periods became heavier so they decided it wasn’t for them.
For me, it’s awesome, cheap and you don’t have to remember to take a pill!
Oh, I have also used the vagina ring which was expensive and messy. It caused dark discharge for the entire time that I was using it… approx 6 weeks…
