@champagnepapi this may not be a surprise but I don’t think the confusion ever really goes away  😀 I’ve almost finished season 3 and she’s still as much of a mysterious enigma

Bahaha @MintMilano I find myself saying “famously…” like Alice does. Their language is so infectious!

I listen to podcasts when I am doing housework or driving somewhere, since I don’t have to commute for work. I cannot listen to podcasts while I’m trying to focus on writing or reading something else though, so I’m v impressed by your multitasking @champagnepapi!

I feel like I should create a “Belinker” badge for those us in the know 😉

My favourite has to be Penn’s Sunday School (because Penn Gillette is an atheist, and his version of Sunday school is like the best Sunday school ever)

@ElleBelle please do!! Also how contagious is Alice’s laugh, she’s such a cutie. I want to be friends with her. All of them, actually. What were they like live and did you get to chat to them?

I’m up to season 3! So excited to see what Belinda has in store for me.

Hey, so I downloaded “my dad wrote a porno” and idk I can’t seem to get into it? Maybe I’m not a podcast person hmm Do you think it’ll grow on me or should I give up on podcast life?

Aww if you’re not into MDWAP after the first couple of episodes it’s probably not gonna be for you @tea. I only listen to podcasts while I’m doing other things, I rarely if ever sit down and just listen to one.

I’ve been discovering some more nerdy, educational podcasts lately. My faves are Philosophize This! which goes through the history of philosophy but in a really accessible way. Also been listening to The History of English which is a bit dry but fascinating, and the History of England.

@ElleBelle noooo 😥 I tried listening to it when I went out for a walk and it was good background noise but I didn’t feel ~engaged~

Maybe I’m just too used to YouTube videos to get into podcasts?

@tea I actually felt the opposite way about MDWAP @ElleBelle! I tried to do other stuff at the same time but I always got distracted. I found I enjoyed it better when I sat down with a cup of tea, like I was sitting around the table with them in Alice’s flat, and actually focusing on it, like I’d sat down to watch TV or something.

One other thing a friend mentioned to me that I’d be interested to hear other Belinkers views on – he expressed the idea that it was kind of kink-shaming/sex-shaming in some parts. Not the content itself but more some of the reactions from the guys reading. Sometimes they’d get really squeamish and grossed out by things and I’d think to myself “Oh honestly guys, grow up!” I know those reactions are part of what makes it funny but also potentially problematic?

@MintMilano that is a super interesting observation but I don’t think they’re deliberately trying to sex shame anyone, I think it’s more that the way Rocky wrote the words was very confronting/badly expressed? I particularly love how Rocky has everyone banging everyone and there’s no mention of sexual orientation or labels, quite progressive for his age I think!

@champagnepapi yeah I totally agree there is no intentional shaming. I guess the podcast wouldn’t be what it is if the erotica was actually good so it’s good that they’re dispelling some myths too (like “grabbing her cervix”  😀 )

I listened to this great podcast called Hacking the Uterus 2.0 by Why Oh Why. It is about IUD insertion and everyones different experiences. It also includes a recording of the host’s own insertion procedure- not for the faint hearted!

I was moved by the stories and showcased how powerful podcasts/audio can be. Let me know what you guys think!

I’m a bit of a nerd and absolutely LOVE Hidden Brain. Highly recommended. Also ‘Stuff you should know’ is pretty interesting too.

Okay revisiting this thread because…….I’M INTO PODCAST NOW!!! New year new me??

I’m in love with sex-related podcasts atm (go figure), ‘Sex Nerd Sandra’ has my heart rn. I’ve laughed out loud in public at least 50 times since listening to it, it’s really good. 10/10 recommend for a good time.
