Exams are over, you and your friends are away from home and having the time of your life. But as fun as it is meeting new people and enjoying new experiences, it’s important that you stay safe, including when it comes to having sex.

The easiest way to do that while you’re away? Use condoms. Condoms act as a physical barrier, preventing the exchange of bodily fluids that can carry sexually transmissible infections (STIs). We get it, whipping out a condom while you’re hooking up with someone may not feel very exciting but it’s way better than having unprotected sex and ending up with an STI or unplanned pregnancy.

Condoms are the only form of protection against both STIs and unplanned pregnancy

Yup, even if you/your partner are on another form on contraception or aren’t at risk of getting pregnant (having sex with someone who was assigned the same sex as you at birth), you’re not protected against STIs.

Using condoms is the best way to reduce your risk of getting an STI and are a reliable form of contraception/birth control when used correctly. Win, win!

Condoms are way better than they used to be

Thanks to technological advancements, there are a lot more options when it comes to condoms these days. Not only are condoms thinner and more lubricated than they’ve ever been, but there are also so many kinds of condoms, you’ve just got to find the one that’s right for you. There’s so many different types/textures/flavours/colours/brands you can try and once you find your favourites, there’s no turning back.

You can get condoms for FREE

You’ve probably noticed Unleashed giving out free condoms, so, if you’re thinking about hooking up on your trip, why not grab a few condoms so that you’re covered? They’re free, convenient and you’ll be able to have an even better time, knowing that you’re safe.

If you’re under 25, there’s also heaps of different places where you can get condoms free of charge, no questions asked. You can visit your local sexual health clinic or youth center, or even sign up free to Family Planning’s Freedom Condom project to see all the different places you can get free condoms from.
